Understanding The Difference Between Analog and IP Security Cameras

Many times  when people are thinking about protecting their home with a security camera system, the biggest question we get is which brand is the best. The next question we get is which is better, analog or IP security cameras?

The answer to this question really depends on the customer and the customer’s needs.

Analog cameras have been around for eons. And it is a stable, tried and true technology. It’s also less expensive to install than an IP camera system.

However, an IP camera system offers better picture resolution. This is also a newer technology and as thus will be upgrading just as fast as the iPhone does.

Nevertheless each technology comes with it’s own advantages and disadvantages.

So the question begs to differ what do you want in your security camera system?

Most of our customers tend to go with the analog security cameras because they are more reliable and they like the ability of being able to  have their video footage in-house.

But if you don’t mind using Internet based apps and a small delay to access your video footage than IP security cameras are the way to go.

It’s important to note that the industry predicts as IP cameras become more mainstream that they will cause the analog cameras to become obsolete.

However, there is no timeline for this yet.

Both types of cameras will do the job of offering added security to your home .
